To meet the demand for a “palace” concept while also having to adapt to the vertical layering made necessary by the unstable and dangerous nature of the soil, the residences are designed according to the traditional layout principle of Lebanese houses. The “palaces” are layered and formed from three equal sized blocks separated by clefts and narrow, deep courtyards that are continuously cooled and ventilated by the constant trade winds. The clearly expressed vertical circulation areas create Piranesian spaces providing openings giving onto the impressive views.
